Description

This figure shows the proportion of people aged 65 and over, in percentage, in Canada's provinces and territories for 2006 and 2011. It also shows the proportion of people aged 65 and over for Canada as a whole in 2011, which was 14.8%. The following are the values for each province and territory, beginning with those for 2006 followed by those for 2011: 13.9% and 16.0% in Newfoundland and Labrador, 14.9% and 16.3% in Prince Edward Island, 15.1% and 16.6% in Nova Scotia, 14.7% and 16.5% in New Brunswick, 14.3% and 15.9% in Quebec, 13.6% and 14.6% in Ontario, 14.1% and 14.3% in Manitoba, 15.4% and 14.9% in Saskatchewan, 10.7% and 11.1% in Alberta, 14.6% and 15.7% in British Columbia, 7.5% and 9.1% in Yukon, 4.8% and 5.8% in the Northwest Territories, and 2.7% and 3.3% in Nunavut.
