In 2011, Shannon (Municipalité) had a population of 5,086, representing a percentage change of 33.0% from 2006. This compares to the national average growth of 5.9%.

Land area is 63.71 square kilometres with a population density of 79.8 persons per square kilometre. This compares to the provincial land area of 1,356,547.02 square kilometres with a population density of 5.8 persons per square kilometre.

In 2011, Shannon (Municipalité) had 1,801 private dwellings occupied by usual residents. The change in private dwellings occupied by usual residents from 2006 was 29.0%. For Canada as a whole, the number of private dwellings occupied by usual residents increased 7.1%.

Shannon (Municipalité) is part of the census metropolitan area of Québec.

In 2011, the percentage of the population aged 65 and over in Shannon, MÉ was 3.6%, compared with a national percentage of 14.8%.
