In 2011, Airdrie (City) had a population of 42,564, representing a percentage change of 47.1% from 2006. This compares to the national average growth of 5.9%.

Land area is 33.10 square kilometres with a population density of 1,286.0 persons per square kilometre. This compares to the provincial land area of 640,081.87 square kilometres with a population density of 5.7 persons per square kilometre.
