Major characteristics

The Postal Code Conversion File (PCCF) is an ASCII file that provides a link between the six-character postal code and standard census geographic areas (such as dissemination areas, census subdivisions, census tracts). By linking postal codes to Statistics Canada geographic areas, the file facilitates the extraction and subsequent aggregation of data for selected 2011 Census geographic areas.

The Postal Codes by Federal Ridings File (PCFRF) is an ASCII file that provides a link between the six-character postal code and the federal electoral districts (2003 Representation Order). A federal electoral district, commonly referred to as a federal riding, is the area represented by a Member of Parliament in the House of Commons.
