The question asks: 'Is this person an Aboriginal person, that is, First Nations (North American Indian), Métis or Inuk (Inuit)?'

The format of the question is comprised of four mark-in circles:
No, not an Aboriginal person
Yes, First Nations (North American Indian)
Yes, Métis
Yes, Inuk (Inuit)

For the option 'No,' there is an instruction to 'Continue with the next question.'

For options 'Yes,' there is an instruction 'If 'Yes,' mark an 'x' in the circle (s) that best describe(s) this person now' and another instruction to 'Go to Question 20.'

The question also contains a note that states: 'Note: First Nations (North American Indian) includes Status and Non-Status Indians.'
